Big Bertha is a dry cider made with a variety of different cider apples grown by Washington State University's Cider Research orchard in Mount Vernon, Washington. Apples were ground and pressed into stainless steel, fermented spontaneously, and then aged on syrah lees. The lot was bottle conditioned with local raw honey. Drink in the garden, on the porch or even in the shower ... Big Bertha can do it all!
Apple varieties include Grindstone; Whitney Crab; Rene de Hatives; Micheline; Puget Spice; Liberty; Harrison; Margil; Bramley's Seeding; Finkenwerder Herbsprintz; Lambrook Pippin; Major; Yarlington Mill; Stembridge Jersey; Mott Pink; Muscat de Dieppe; Ross Nonpareil; Hudson's Golden Gem; Harry Masters; Jersey; Taliaferro; Grimes Golden & Chisel Jersey.
Tasting Notes: Complex, yet crushable. Fruity, yet apple forward. This cider drinks dry, edging on semi-dry with medium-plus acidity and medium tannins. Notes of red berry, honey, and apple.
